An anthology by Unconditional Possible Girl
Poems about gender and sexuality, midlife identity shifts, growth, acceptance and finding joy in the marginalisation.
I believe seeking and sharing real, personal and engaging experiences and making them accessible through poetry can build connections between different communities of people, supporting informed conversations and promoting education to effect social change.
One – The Naked Truth
What is going on in society, what are these poems about.
The Naked Truth – November 2024
This poem was the entry point into my research. It highlights blind spots and assumptions I had made about people in kink spaces; best practice related to Transgender and Gender Diverse people and psychotherapy and made me curious to understand more deeply.
The Truth that Lies Within – January 2025
This poem is a jumping off point highlighting a transformation occurring in this process where I become braver and be more authentic and find my voice to advocate for others.
Beauty Ideals Reimagined – March 2025
It’s for anyone who ever felt they weren’t pretty enough when comparing themselves with conventional standards of beauty. It’s inspired by my work with transwomen experiencing gender and body dysphoria and my personal experience.
Shock Doctrine Chaos Overwhelm – February 2025
Inspired by Naomi Klein’s 2017 book, The Shock Doctrine, written shortly after Trump came into power.
My mum’s, best friends, daughters, employer’s cats preferred name – May 2025
This poem acknowledges that some people avoid conversations about about sexuality and gender. It also speaks about dead naming in families.
Perception – May 2025
This poem is a composite depiction of experiences of being perceived incorrectly.
Two – Unconditional Possible Girl
Who am I, Why am I who I am, my passion, what side am i on?
Unconditional Possible Girl – May 2025
My magnum opus
Fuck the Executive Order! – January 2025
I wrote this poem after the Trump administration issued the executive order “defending women from gender ideology, extremism and restoring biological truth to the federal government.” The order withdraws federal recognition from transgender people in the USA. In April 2025 the UK seems to be following suit.
Other – January 2025
This poem looks at my life story including aspects relating to my gender history and marginalising experiences
Three – When you know you know
Awareness, awakening, self reflection.
When you know, you know – January 2025
This poem is a coming out story, and a story about gender violence.
It’s a sin – January 2025
I have a deep connection to the music of my teenage years. When I was being reflexive about this song it brought systems of oppression to mind.
The Greatest Hurt – September 2024
This poem captures some experience of rejection and estrangement.
Four – Say it anyway
Change, rupture, renewal, ownership of your identity
Say it Anyway – February 2025
A poem about the industrial marriage complex and voicing an opinion in Midlife after a lifetime of compliance. Written after being interviewed by Pigskin. It’s my favourite.
Lube you up (The menopause song) – May 2024
A song about a menopausal badass inspired by Taylor Swift and Florence and the Machines song Florida.
Rejections Pain – January 2025
This poem introduces my experience of reimaging a sexual identity in the face of rejection, grief, estrangement, and parental alienation.
Christmas – December 2024
A poem about social stigma and Christmas exclusion from PTA community due to non-heteronormative relationship structure and finding a BDSM community.
Family Wedding – September 2024
This poem was written during a family wedding after an altercation with a member of my family who does not approve of my partner or relationship.
Five – Are we really doing this?
Exploring edges, challenging rules, finding joy in marginalisation.
Are we really doing this? – August 2025
This poem is a snapshot of what happened when my long term relationship was opened up. It’s about threesomes, relationships, sex, and curiosity and it asks: does taking this risk mean loss, freedom, or both?
Us three – June 2025
This poem explores the experience of a new BDSM relationship.
2025 – October 2025
Six – All is well
Acceptance, authenticity, peace.
All is well – March 2024
This poem was inspired by Taylor Swift’s story telling. It is about the integration of my personal and professional identity when I was training to become a psychotherapist. It was presented at the University of Staffordshire’s research conference in 2024.
Golden Unicorn Rainbow – March 2025
This poem depicts the experience of a kink aware therapist that I met in the process of my research for my masters thesis.
Angel in a boiler suit – April 2025
About a bin man and a reminder to celebrate beauty. I was working in Kent and stayed at Premier Inn in Gillingham that overlooked a bin lorry depot. That’s where I saw him.
Seven – They didn’t make it
These are a work in progress or perhaps just not good enough to make it into the main body.
They didn’t make it – April 2025
This poem explores feelings about a relationship in distress.
The Margins of Hell – March 2025
You Gotta Fight! – March 2025
Written after interviewing Spirit to the tune of the Beastie Boys song.
