The Truth that Lies Within

Lynne Jones – January 2025

This poem is a jumping off point highlighting a transformation occurring in this process where I become braver and be more authentic and find my voice to advocate for others.

The truth that lies within

Hidden in plain site
Never gets called out

Part of me you’ll never see
Do you think you know me?

Something I do well.
Hide parts of me in a shell

Afraid of authenticity
Would mean you reject me

Isolated in my heart
Making a brave new start

Helping others impart
The truth that lies within their hearts.

Reflexivity:

What does this poem bring up for you?

What is a truth in you?

What parts of yourself cant you show?

What does bravery feel like?

What would have to happen for you to feel brave to say hidden secrets?
