Not For Everyone

Three poems to start with. If they offend you, stay and ask yourself why. If they don’t, there’s plenty more where they came from.

Fuck the Executive Order

Lynne in leather jacket and cap outside the LGBT Foundation
Outside LGBT Foundation April 2025. Copyright LGBT Foundation.

I wrote this on 21 January 2025, after the Trump administration’s Executive Order 14168 withdrew federal recognition from transgender people in the USA. It won a place in the LGBT Foundation Rainbow Art Trail, celebrating 50 years of queer hope and joy.

When the world becomes more dangerous overnight,
Loudly advocate for transgender rights.

I came to the LGBT party late
I’m a member, an ally, an advocate
Can’t believe the transphobic news
Proud Boys Trumpeting unhelpful views.

Say it Anyway

Lynne mid-shout in a bar

A poem about the industrial marriage complex and voicing an opinion in midlife after a lifetime of compliance. Written after being interviewed by Pigskin. It’s my favourite.

After years of psychotherapy
I got an interest in transgressive poetry
Writing in my Front room where I’d been a good mum
about becoming a menopausal BDSM Dom
And while I’m not sure how this poems going to go down
And if its “appropriate” to read in a small town
It’ OK.
Don’t know what you’ll think
But I’m gonna say it anyway.

Unconditional Possible Girl

Lynne in graduation cap and gown against a red background

The poem this site takes its name from, written in May 2025. It tells the story of my research, and of becoming a gender-affirming, kink-aware therapist.

This research became my magnum opus
Walked into my strength where I once felt hopeless
It started when I met the gender-neutral pup
Then advocacy, open mic and stand up

Prima materia secured ethically by interview
Linguistic alchemy, something I had no idea I could do
And as my hair turns 50 shades of grey
I’m no longer afraid of what others say

So, if you need a gender affirming therapist, give me a whirl
I’m a cisgendered, unconditional, possible girl.

If these got under your skin, there’s more. The Naked Truth: Midlife, Sex, Rage & Becoming is my anthology of poems and songs, and my new book publishes the research behind them: A heuristic inquiry into becoming a kink-aware therapist working with transgender and gender diverse clients. Both are available now on Amazon. See my books.
